Good news for Silent Hill fans. The return of the series would be imminent and in a big way. As revealed by VGC, Konami has long entrusted the IP in the hands of a Japanese development studio with a reveal scheduled for this summer. This game may not be the only Silent Hill-related game in development, as Konami previously planned to return the series with two titles, with different approaches.
Still rumors, more and more founded, on the imminent return of Silent Hill. This time they come from VGC, who learned them from sources considered reliable. Konami would have entrusted Silent Hill to an external Japanese developer, with a reveal planned for this summer, which would coincide with what was declared by Akira Yamaoka, composer of the series, in an interview on YouTube, which was then removed.
The clues lead to Kojima Productions, given the rumors of a possible return of the much-acclaimed Silent Hills, but the news is absolutely not confirmed. It wouldn’t be the only Silent Hill-related project in development. Konami in the past would have tried to start the development of two new games related to the saga, a soft reboot (which could be Silent Hills ) and a different game, perhaps in episodes, for which he had thought of Supermassive Games, the authors of Until Dawn and games from the Dark Pictures series.
Just Man of Medan and followed would be the evolution of the project proposed, and not approved, by Konami. At this point, it would be natural to associate the news of the new horror game in development at Bloober Team with a famous publisher with this second Silent Hill project.
Konami, in the past, has always been reluctant to sell its IPs to external studios. Still, the recent performances not up to par with internally developed titles such as Metal Gear Survive and Contra: Rogue Corps may have given the necessary push to take this step…
VGC sources also say that Konami plans to develop new titles related to Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid, always entrusting them to external companies. However, the possible publication of these games would still be several years away.
As always, when it comes to rumors, we encourage you to take the news with a grain of salt. However founded and confirmed by various clues, they remain unofficial. Keep following us, hoping to announce the official return of Silent Hill as soon as possible.
