Electronic Arts and Velan Studios announced Knockout City, an action-packed multiplayer team game that brings skill, depth and style to the dodgeball game, turning it into a real dodgeball war.
In Knockout City, intense battles are a way of life, and players will need to master the art of throwing, catching, passing and deflecting in a joyful and competitive experience that will be like a hefty surprise in the face.
Knockout City, the newest game under the EA Originals label, will be available on May 21, 2021, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Origin and Steam. In the case of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, through backward compatibility with graphics and performance improvements. The game also supports crossplay and cross-progression on all platforms.
Whether playing quick 3 × 3, 4 × 4 games or released on Street Play, ranked in League Play or an experience hosted in a private match, the struggle to take down rival teams takes many forms. In Knockout City, players start all matches on an equal footing and must rely on their ability to dominate the competition. A solid team is also the difference between getting it right or getting it right. The game is easy to learn and play, but the practice is key to mastering positioning, playing time and teamwork and mastering the burning war.
And, of course, once players master the moves, they will also present their own unique look. Knockout City’s robust customization options – in appearance, equipment, attitude, body type, hairstyle and even gliders, knockout effects and taunts – will leave players fighting in style. And that also includes the team. With up to 32 friends on all platforms, teams will be able to personalize their names, logos, banners and even choose a customized vehicle to enter the battle.
Players in North America and across Europe will have the opportunity to play Knockout City on the PC during the first beta to take place this weekend, on the 20th and 21st of February, via Origin and Steam.
When the game becomes available on May 21, players will also have access to a free trial on PC via Origin and Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. During this period, the full game will be available.
At launch, Knockout City will deliver a multiplayer package complete with five maps, an interactive environment in which players and their teams can train, six types of ball, full character customization, crossplay, cross-progression, Street Play with five playlists, League Play, Private Matches and the complete progression of Street Rank with hundreds of cosmetic items. In addition to this extensive launch content, Knockout City will also bring a ton of new content through the seasons at no additional cost, with each season including new maps, modes, balls, limited-time events and more.
Players who choose to purchase the full game during the free trial period will be able to transfer all of their progress and receive additional cosmetic rewards as they continue to battle in Knockout City. For those who purchase the game after the free trial, you will also transfer all your progress.
