Knack could return to PS5: Sony registers a new trademark in Japan

Knack

Sony PlayStation registered the Knack trademark in Japan, hinting at the potential return of Japan Studio’s original IP to PS5. Sony dismantled the software house in 2020. Still, according to what was reported by the Japanese giant, most of the developers are now part of Team Asobi, Astro’s Playroom studio, which we know is working on a “new video game. funny 3D action with humorous moments “.

In July 2021, we told you about this new game in development, suggesting that it could be the third chapter of the Astro Bot series. Still, the registration of Knack’s trademark could also suggest the return of this latest IP with a 3D video game. In addition to the registration of the brand, in support of this thesis, there is the role of the video game, born in 2013 as a tech demo to show the potential of PS4. Today, nine years later, the IP could return to show the potential of the PS VR2, with a new 3D video game created by the same developers now part of Team Asobi.

Of course, there is no certainty about it, and it could always be a brand linked to the production of a mobile game, an animated series, or any other form of electronic entertainment. On the other hand, Knack’s popularity is not that low, so we can’t rule out that Sony is considering the production of a third chapter, especially when the second one also came as a complete surprise.
