In the role of creative director of the new collective Bokeh Game Studio, Toyama now wants to go “to the origins,” that is, to the genre that launched him definitively in the eyes of the general public.
In a new video recently published on the studio’s Youtube channel, Toyama explains the personal needs that led him to leave Sony to found a new studio, such as the desire not to necessarily aim at the widest audience of users, preferring experiences capable of being discovered even after years of release.
Regarding the first game by Bokeh Game Studio, which we know is a horror, the director said: “I have different directions for my work: the first is very dark, and represents a return to the origins of my career. It will certainly be a horror. But there will be an entertainment component. I want players to feel elated about what they are experiencing. “
“My vision of horror corresponds to shaking up everyday life, and rather than showing something scary, it questions and challenges the serenity we live. I like to bring this kind of reasoning into my projects, and I would like it to be the theme of my next game “.
Inside the video, which also tells the background of Toyama’s life, there are some sketches of the next project, which promises to make long-time Silent Hill fans happy.
