At the beginning of the “War Table” broadcast, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics say that a content planned for the live was removed due to the death of Chadwick Boseman.
For the special War Table for Marvel’s Avengers’ launch, the Crystal Dynamics team wanted to think BIG, so let’s reveal new details about the weekly gameplay ritual, new game modes, and a new Heroine! Read on for more information.
Operation Taking Aim
The Avengers Initiative will evolve over the next few years. Each novelty adds up and grows over time to form a series of much larger history arcs. We’ve talked about missions in the past. Now it’s time to speak about Operations!
Kate Bishop will be the first official Avenger to join our cast after launch, voiced by fan-favorite Ashly Burch. In the comics, Clint – the original Hawkeye – adopted Kate as a disciple. That said, Kate often brings maturity, compared to Clint’s recklessness.
Operation Marvel’s Avengers: Kate Bishop – Taking AIM will continue directly after the completion of the Reassemble campaign and includes a new villain for Kate to face.
Clint – voiced by TV veteran Giacomo Gianniotti – will come with Hero Operation, Marvel’s Avengers: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect. Considering the strong friendship and connection between him, Kate and Clint, we believe his Operations as a “double.”
First Day Summary
If you played the Beta, you know that Marvel’s Avengers is huge. The Beta barely covers the surface of what the full game will have at launch.
On day one, most of you will start the single-player campaign, see the team coming together, and our narrative that highlights Ms. Marvel & MODOK. That said, if you want to jump straight to the Avengers Initiative (with some spoilers from the campaign) to start leveling up your favorite Avenger – you can!
It is worth noting that you can access and play the Avengers Initiative in parallel with your campaign. You can play with your friends, and then come back and play where you left off.
Daily and Weekly Missions
Marvel’s Avengers has daily and weekly gameplay cycles. Understanding them is a great way to make the most of your gaming sessions.
There are daily, and weekly content resets, and the War Table is also dynamic. Some missions and rewards come and go during your game session, some in daily rotation, while others appear only on weekends (we’ll talk more about that in a moment!).
Here’s a tip: there are 2 Factions, each with 8 Assignments and 1 Villain Sector per day, adding up to almost 20 small goals. Don’t forget to take all daily Factions missions when you enter the game, as they can be completed as you play other missions.
It is also a good idea to always check the game sellers. Their inventory changes every hour, so there’s still something cool to buy.
Cosmetic sellers work the same way. They have a shop with costumes, emotes, and nameplates that change once a day. You can unlock these cosmetics using units that you obtain by opening the vault found by the missions.
Villain Sectors
The Villain Sectors are special missions that culminate in epic boss fights, which you will want to repeat, especially when you are getting close to the Heroes’ power limit at the launch of the game, which will be 150.
Discover the secret behind this villain’s insurrection and end their plans if you can!
Shield Vaults
Before he disappeared, Nick Fury hid SHIELD Vaults all over the world. Players can unlock them for resources, items, and secrets. However, the coordinates of SHIELD Vaults must first be located within other missions. SHIELD Vaults are very important to ensure that you are ready for the endgame challenges.
Avengers Initiative
Events
Events are one way we’re going to use to keep the Avengers Initiative fresh. Some happen during the week, and others will be seasonal. Some will have cosmetics and items that will only be available for a limited time. We will also have new places to explore, with familiar faces (and voices!)!
SHIELD Substation Zero
SHIELD Substation Zero is a new Resistance Outpost led by Commander Maria Hill, voiced by industry veteran Jennifer Hale. Available shortly after launch, Substation is a social space formed after temporal anomalies began to appear worldwide.
You will have to help Maria Hill investigate the source of these disturbances, known as Tachyon Rifts. We will reveal more details about these missions and the special items you can get there in the future.
AIM’s Secret Lab & Mega Hives
AIM’s Secret Lab, which also arrives shortly after launch, will be the real team playtest for those who have finished the game. Available only once a week, the Lab must be completed in a set time and ends with a massive boss fight, where you will need some strategy from your team of four.
The Mega Hive also arrives shortly after launch if you’re looking for a big solo challenge. This type of seminal mission will test your heroes’ set as you fight through multiple floors, getting more and more difficult. When one hero falls, another enters. After all your heroes are defeated, you will have to start again from the beginning.
