The Polish platformer Kao the Kangaroo has a demo version, released on PC as part of Steam’s Next Fest initiative.
The demo offers an “extended look” at one of the levels, called Dark Forest. We are supposed to spend about 40 minutes in the Dark Forest, “depending on the style of the game.”
“This is the first chance to experience Kao’s return, more than two decades after his debut on the legendary Dreamcast,” the press release reads.
The full version of Kao the Kangaroo will be released this summer for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, and Switch.
Kao the Kangaroo is a once-popular series, the first part released in 2000. The four installments of the series have sold over 700,000 copies on PC, PlayStation 2, PSP, Nintendo GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance, or just on SEGA Dreamcast.
The new project is not a direct continuation but an adventure reset. We are still dealing with a three-dimensional platformer, and the creators promise, among other things, battles with bosses, an addictive story, and, of course, new gloves that the hero is famous for.
