Instinction seeks to be a spiritual successor to Dino Crisis

Instinction is a new dinosaur game from Hashbane Interactive that seeks to be a next-generation spiritual successor to Dino Crisis. The teaser trailer the team released last month shows what appears to be a litter of dinosaur eggs that appear to serve as the game’s main menu. It transitions to a loading screen and then a brief snippet of gameplay in a state-of-the-art environment.

Hashbane describes Instinction as “a dinosaur survival game with modern mechanics and an engaging story.”

Players will assume one of the three members of the rescue crew in single-player or cooperative multiplayer mode. The adventure will take you from the ocean’s darkest depths to the wonderful awe of the vast grassy plains. In addition to the horror of coming face to face with dinosaurs, the narrative seems to be the central focus of Instinction.

“As they discover the real reasons for their mission, they begin to fall into the inner doubt that will test their determination, relationships and push them into the darkest corners of their minds,” says Hashbane of the title’s story.

A lot of player customization is critical to the development of Instinction, from the variety of weapon loads you can find and win throughout the game. “From melee weapons to rocket launchers,” each has a “fully customizable in-game attachment, skin editor, and reticle.” This also extends to the fully customizable user interface, allowing players to turn everything on and off and reposition elements.

Instinction can be played through first and third-person perspectives, which can be exchanged throughout the game. The development team is mainly focusing on the use of cutting-edge technologies, such as Ray Tracing, DLSS 2.0, HDRI, screen-space effects, shadows, reflections, and ambient occlusion. The game will also have dynamic resolution and high frame rates, aiming to support 8K and 120 fps. 3D audio will create a dynamic sound landscape with positional reactions for ambient audio. PS5 players will receive treatment with full DualSense support, including tactile feedback and adaptive triggers.

They started working on Instinction under Dane Design, a visual production studio in New Zealand, just under a year ago, before deciding to launch Hashbane Interactive as a dedicated development studio for the game, funded by Dane Design. Dane Design has over 27 years of commercial visual production experience in several fields, including CGI, animation, architectural visualization, and motion graphics.
