You’ve bought yourself the latest expansion for World of Warcraft, Battle for Azeroth, and you’re sure to be in awe of the two new continents, Kul Tiras and Zandalar. Whether you are the type of gamer who likes to take things easy and observe the environment or you want to reach level 120 as soon as possible, surely you have come across this question: When and how are the world missions unlocked? As you’ve probably guessed, just hitting the level cap for this expansion isn’t enough. Do not worry. In this guide, we will explain everything you have to do so that all those world missions appear on your map to obtain reputation, equipment, Azerite, and much more.
REACHING LEVEL 120
You have already reached 120, and there is not a single world mission on your map. What’s going on? I’m sorry to tell you that reaching level 120 is only the first requirement to unlock the world missions. If you have leveled up based on doing the missions on the map you have chosen or based on dungeons or PvP, from here, we give you the advice not to miss a single mission on your faction’s map. Maybe that mission that you are lazy to do will unlock one more world mission later. Still, you’ve already completed the first requirement. What’s next?
REACH THE FRIENDLY REPUTATION WITH THE THREE MAIN ALLIES OF YOUR FACTION
If you’ve leveled up by completing all the plots on the Kul Tiras or Zandalar map, this section shouldn’t be a problem for you.
You must become friendly with each of the three main allies in your faction.
For the Horde:
- Zuldazar: Zandalari Empire
- Nazmir: Talanji’s Expedition
- Vol’dun: Voldunai

For the Alliance:
- Tiragarde Sound: Admiralty of the Valiant House
- Stormsong Valley: Storm’s Awakening
- Drustvar: Order of Embers

To get too friendly, I can do it in any way, but the simplest, without a doubt, is to follow the main missions in each area. Although there is no way to know what the main story missions are, these are usually quite linear. Just not straying from the path is enough.
ESTABLISH THE THREE CAMPS OF THE WAR CAMPAIGN
The story of Battle for Azeroth is divided into two parts: the main story, full of incredible cutscenes, that tell your faction recruiting the Kul Tiras nation if you are an Alliance or the Zandalari Empire if you are a Horde and then there is the Campaign war, which is a bit more basic.
You have access to this War Campaign from the beginning, but you only need to complete:
- Alliance: The Shadow War mission. It is given to you by Master Mathias Shaw in Boralus.
- Horde: The Shadow War mission. It is given to you by Garona Half Orco in Zuldazar.
To complete the story content for each zone, you will need to advance through the War Campaign missions until you have established a foothold in each of the three new zones. Whichever faction you play in, you will have to go to the other faction’s continent and set up camp there. You can go to the first camp at 110, the second at level 114, and the third at level 118. You have to visit the War Campaign headquarters in their respective city and choose which camp you want to go to first.
ENJOY WORLD MISSIONS
Once you have completed all the above requirements, the world missions will be unlocked on your map. By hovering the mouse over them, you can see what rewards it gives you and which faction will give it a reputation. We recommend having War Mode activated to get a bonus in your rewards. And don’t forget to do the side missions to unlock each of the world missions.
