The next Harry Potter game, Hogwarts Legacy, will allow players to customize their character in all its aspects. You can choose the voice, the build, and the location of the dormitory. Therefore, the character creation system will give the possibility to create transgender characters, thus making the game more inclusive. This Bloomberg report reveals, citing the recent controversy that saw JK Rowling at the center as a push for this decision.
JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter saga, was heavily criticized recently for some comments judged to be transphobic on her Twitter profile, which also caused the reaction of some cast members of the films, such as Emma Watson, who confirmed their support for the transgender community in public.
According to Bloomberg’s report, there will be attention in this regard in Hogwarts Legacy, the ambitious title set in the Harry Potter universe coming out next year, which had already moved away from JK Rowling at the announcement.
According to the report, a more inclusive character creation system would be incorporated into the game. It would be possible to create a character with a male or female voice regardless of the body, and the choice between wizard and witch would only determine the dormitory in which you will be placed, not the gender of the character.
Also, in the report, some Avalanche members, the game’s development team, are pushing for a transgender character to be added to the game’s cast.
Hogwarts Legacy, as recently announced, will arrive in the course of 2022 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and PC.
