Hitman 3 guide, walkthrough
On this page of the guide, you will find starting tips for Hitman 3. We have prepared various hints and tips about important game mechanics. Following our tips will allow you to make fewer mistakes and be better at your missions.
Complete each new mission on the normal difficulty level first
We do not recommend setting the highest difficulty level settings right away because each of the game maps/missions is very complex. Moving around unknown locations is much more difficult because you will not know what threats are waiting for Agent 47 and the best ways to get the target (s).
It is best to set a higher level of the challenge only after completing the episode several times. This will allow you to learn about the location of enemies, traps, and security cameras, find out where the important rooms and passages are, and which route is the best to choose on your way to the target’s location.
Save the game frequently to avoid serious problems
It is straightforward to make a mistake in Hitman 3, e.g., if Agent 47 is noticed by a person/camera while in the so-called prohibited area or performing a prohibited activity (attacking another person, moving the body, etc.). This can raise the alarm and, at the same time, pose a threat to the main character.
You can and should rely on a few different save slots. We advise you to create separate manual saves in important moments of the mission, e.g., when infiltrating a forbidden location or just before attacking the mission’s target. It can also allow you to shorten the game time for completing various challenges, e.g., those related to eliminating mission objectives in different ways. With a “ready” save, you won’t have to, for example, repeat the beginning of the mission to get to the guarded location on the map each time.
Carefully research all newly visited maps
Hitman 3, just like the previous parts, offers gigantic maps, and their careful exploration is the key to success. Each time you start a new episode, we recommend that you spend even a few hours on the map to get to know it as much as possible. It is the knowledge that will pay off during all subsequent attempts to the same map/mission.
When exploring the maps, first of all, keep in mind that they are multi-level. You can reach some places easier, e.g., by using a ladder, scaffolding, cornice, or gutter. Also, try to locate various entrances to forbidden zones and remember the places where you find disguises, quest items, or rooms with surveillance tapes.
It is worth trying to complete as many challenges as possible
Each location in the game offers at least several dozen challenges, and the main motivation to complete them is that each completed challenge allows you to gain experience points. The amount of XP received depends on the level of complexity and difficulty of a given challenge. However, you shouldn’t ignore any of them and try to deal with the ones that offer less XP, as most of the time, they are easy.
By completing challenges, you can advance to the next mastery levels of a given location, which is as important as in the previous parts. The next levels of mastery will allow, e.g., unlock better places to start missions or unique weapons and gadgets. These are rewards that may come in handy in repeating the same or different missions.
Aim to complete the mission without initiating any fights
Hitman 3 is a game in which you should complete missions without fighting and without raising alarms. It is possible to start a confrontation with opponents. Still, there are no profits, and you can get into serious trouble – enemies can easily defeat Agent 47 during a fire exchange, and reinforcements may be summoned to the map. Additionally, leading to a fight may significantly reduce the score for completing the mission (in extreme cases, it may even be a negative score).
Rely on the fact that the game provides many opportunities to pass the missions silently – you can follow the actions of your opponents, distract them, use non-offensive gadgets and silenced weapons, hide the bodies of eliminated people, put on various disguises that guarantee access to new locations, or blend in with the crowd.
Don’t forget about the possibility of sabotaging the surveillance tapes
This is not a mandatory activity to be performed in each approach to a given mission, although it is a step that you should not skip if Agent 47 were recorded by one of the security cameras. Ignoring the recordings’ destruction will result in receiving a worse note for leaving evidence of your presence. The security room is located in a different place on each map, and our walkthrough will help you locate it.
During the mission, you can protect yourself and avoid security cameras from a safe distance to not be within their range. The game also allows you to temporarily sabotage or destroy cameras, though this may alert the guards.
Avoid unnecessary kills – the mission objective is the most important
It would be best if you tried to approach each mission in Hitman 3 as “professionally” as possible, i.e., limit yourself to killing only the mission’s target (s). It is not required for the mission to be successful, although outsiders’ death will harm the score and rank obtained after completing the order.
You can deal with the NPCs encountered during the mission in several different ways – sneak past them, distract them, use disguises or “blend in” with the surroundings. If you plan to eliminate someone, make sure that they are only stunned. When hiding the body, don’t choose chasms or other similar places to lead to death while hiding the body.
Plan the selection of equipment for the mission each time
It would be best if you prepared yourself properly for each mission, and this also applies to subsequent attempts at the same task. Everything depends on what you want to achieve during a given mission passage. For example, if you are going to shoot a target from a long distance, it is worth getting a sniper rifle, if you want to break into somewhere, it is worth taking a lockpick, and if you want to poison someone, it is best to take poison with you and not waste time looking for poison on the map.
Agent 47 can take a limited number of weapons and items on a mission. You can mainly fight this problem by smuggling equipment into Agency stashes located in different parts of the map. During the mission, the inventory is unlimited, and you can add all the items you find to it (except large weapons).
Instinct allows you to scan the area and is unlimited
These are the mechanics that you should be familiar with from previous hits of the Hitman series. Killer Instinct is a manually activated vision mode that “shines through” the environment. It has many uses, the most important of which is easier to locate enemies and interactive objects – those that can be taken with you and those that can be used.
The use of instinct is unlimited, so it is definitely worth activating it after entering each new area or while sneaking up. This will reduce the risk that you will miss an important quest item or not see an enemy.
Using the camera allows you to hack devices from a distance
The portable camera is one of the most important new gadgets in Hitman 3. It has several uses. Its more obvious purpose is to take photos, which can be tied to the main or optional objectives of some missions. Thanks to the camera, however, you can also hack selected devices without having to approach them. This can make it much easier for you to stay hidden.
Hacking can be used, for example, to disarm electronic locks from a distance. It can also be an interesting technique to distract enemies who will be surprised by a device’s sudden activation. As with many other Agent 47 gadgets, it is worth experimenting a lot with the environment’s enemies and elements to discover other useful uses of the camera.
Look for shortcuts and unlock them
One of the most interesting new features of Hitman 3 is to unlock shortcuts to use them later in the game. An abbreviation can be, for example, a ladder, which, when lowered, makes it easier to get to a higher shelf or the roof of the building.
An important feature of shortcuts is that they remain available during subsequent attempts to the same mission once unlocked. As a result, they can make it easier for you to go through the same stages again – Agent 47 will be able to reach mission objectives faster or, for example, easier to bypass guarded passages. We recommend that you try to find and unlock as many shortcuts as possible when researching each new map for the first time.
You don’t always have to get to the same exit
Hitman 3, in the same way as the previous parts of the trilogy, allows you to choose the place to leave the mission after eliminating the target (s) of the mission and possibly completing other mandatory tasks. The best solution is to go to the exit closest to Agent 47’s current location in most situations. This will reduce the risk that you will encounter some enemies or encounter additional difficulties while escaping from the map.
Please do not ignore the alternative exits, although you need to be aware that using some of them may involve additional requirements (e.g., obtaining vehicle keys). The incentive to choose them is that they may have challenges or trophies associated with them.
