Hitman 3 is an astounding game from a technical point of view. Apparently, the guys at IO Interactive intend to take the title’s quality to an even higher level, before getting to work on the new 007 themed projects. According to Maurizio De Pascale, the technical director of the software house, the first step is Ray Tracing’s introduction, and apparently not long before implementing this first graphic improvement.
We see Hitman as a ‘live game’ and our launch date on January 20 is just the beginning of a journey, in which we’re going to keep working on the game and adding new features. It’s great that the GPU in the Series X|S has hardware support for Ray-Tracing. We’ve already started working on RT technology for the renderer in our Glacier engine, and once that’s deemed ready for prime time, we’ll definitely bring it to the Series X|S hardware.
The technical director of IO Interactive did not mention the PlayStation 5 version. Still, it is possible that he did not make references for marketing reasons since the interview was published exclusively on Xbox Wire.
Hitman 3 runs in native 4K resolution on Xbox Series X, versus PlayStation 5’s 1800p and Xbox Series S 1080p. Considering that De Pascale has confirmed the implementation of Ray Tracing on Microsoft’s entry-level console, we can expect that the graphic improvement also arrives on PS5, probably in the same period.
