PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya recently reported in some Twitter comments that Bayonetta 2 and 3 are Switch exclusives and that the possibility of them coming to other consoles is entirely up to Nintendo. Kamiya then ends with dispassionate advice inviting fans to buy a Switch to play the two titles.
The recent Nintendo Direct closed explosively with spectacular Bayonetta 3 gameplay. The long-awaited new chapter will arrive on Switch in 2022, but many fans are still wondering if the game and its predecessor will one day reach the PlayStation and Xbox consoles. However, Hideki Kamiya, executive producer of the game, wanted to clarify the matter with some comments on Twitter. (Translate by Nintendo Everything)
Just like with Bayonetta 2, we’re developing Bayonetta 3 with funding from Nintendo. We are only involved in development. All decisions about the final product are up to Nintendo. So feel free to send your requests of ‘release the game on other consoles’ to Nintendo. If Nintendo asks us to port the game to PS5, we might do that.
However, Kamiya does not rule out the possibility of a cross-platform launch but reiterates once again that the decision rests with Nintendo stating that at the moment, the simplest way to play the two Bayonettas is to buy a Switch.
I mean, I guess the likelihood of Bayonetta 2 and 3 coming to PS5 and Xbox isn’t impossible – it’s Nintendo’s decision. By that same logic, it’s not impossible that games like Mario and Zelda could be show up on PS5 or whatever. So good luck sending passionate pleas to Nintendo and trying to get that to happen… If I were you, I’d simply buy a Switch.
Kamiya does not, therefore, seem very confident towards Nintendo. Would it be better to follow his advice instead of waiting for other versions that may never arrive? Write us in the comments about your opinion and if you ever buy a Switch exclusively to play the two Bayonetta.
