Grand Theft Auto V recently surpassed 160 million copies shipped worldwide, consolidating its second position in the ranking of best-selling video games ever. With Grand Theft Auto 6 officially in development, fans can’t help but wonder what heights this extraordinary IP will reach with the power of the next gen. Recently, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive spoke to the microphones of IGN to give his answer.
According to Strauss Zelnick, Rockstar Games’ goal is to create an amazing game, so much so that it surpasses the achievements of Grand Theft Auto V.
“Each chapter of our great franchises has always managed to do better than the previous one, always,” Zelnick explained, “I’m not saying it’s going to happen again, I’m not saying it’s guaranteed, but I can confirm that this is our goal.” Exceeding 160 million units sold will not be easy, even if it is quite likely that the next chapter of the series will have a very long life cycle, perhaps even longer than that of GTA V, which in 2023 will blow out ten candles.
Speaking of Grand Theft Auto 6, the CEO of Take-Two advised fans to follow the Rockstar Newswire, as a lot of information about the game will be shared in the future. Unfortunately, there is no date, but the first details are likely to arrive next year.
