Gotham Knights will only arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC. Last-gen versions officially canceled

The decision was made to "offer users the best possible gaming experience".

Gotham Knights is back to show itself with a new 14-minute gameplay video, at the end of which the release date set for October 25 has been confirmed only on PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC. WB Games explained that the PS4 and Xbox One versions are not included. The studio decided to cancel them as the developers could not guarantee a gaming experience up to their standards.

The new gameplay video released by the studio shows Gotham quite visually impressive, with lots of screen action and a neat lighting system. Last-gen consoles probably would have been able to run the game at 30fps, but Warner Bros didn’t want to take any chances and preferred to save time and budget by focusing on the PC and next-gen versions. Therefore, what we will receive on October 25 will be a product made without compromise, designed for more powerful hardware.

WB Games did not go into detail to explain the reasons for this choice. Still, they limited themselves to stating that “the decision was made to guarantee users the best possible gaming experience.” Hence, it is evident that the studio noticed a few too many problems during the early testing phases. The hope is that Warner Bros has made this decision also with a view to a possible introduction of cross-play, which we remember has not yet been confirmed.
