Respawn Entertainment has announced the end of the life cycle of Titanfall, the 2014 shooter released exclusively on PC and Xbox. The game has recently been removed from all online stores and can no longer be purchased digitally. Starting from March 1, 2022, it will be permanently removed from the EA Play catalog (and consequently from Xbox Game Pass), thus becoming playable only by owners. of a physical copy or from whoever bought the game in the past. There is no closure of the servers, but it seems obvious that the online support will also end within one or two years.
The Respawn Entertainment press release states that “Titanfall is part of the studio’s DNA” but that the team has nevertheless decided to “stop sales and remove the game from monthly subscription services starting March 1, 2022”. In conclusion, two good news: the first is that support for Titanfall 2 will continue, and the second is that Titanfall continues to be considered by Respawn as a fundamental IP, and consequently, “the universe will continue in the future.” In recent times, several rumors regarding the development of Titanfall 3 have sprung up, and even if the priority remains support for Apex Legends, it seems quite likely that a new chapter of the series will arrive in the future.
