What has been discovered in the last few hours by the TrueAchievements website could be truly incredible if confirmed: the remake of GoldenEye 007, FPS made by Rare arrived on Nintendo 64 in 1997, could finally see the light on Xbox. A list of Xbox Live achievements related to the game has been leaked.
GoldenEye 007 was supposed to receive a remaster in 2008 on Xbox Live Arcade. Still, Nintendo backed away at the last moment by forcing Xbox to cancel the game despite development being complete. The difficulty, specifically, was the acquisition of the rights that involved Microsoft, Nintendo, and EON Productions (film house in possession of the James Bond rights). Although Rare has been part of Microsoft since 2002, his position has not facilitated the agreements.
However, according to this list of achievements, the situation could have dramatically changed, which seems different from those related to 2008 remaster. If the news is confirmed, it is not clear if GoldenEye 007 will only see the light on Xbox. Series X or even on Xbox One, we await official news on this. In the meantime, here you can see what the GoldenEye 007 remaster would have been like on Xbox Live Arcade.
