Genshin Impact remains one of the most popular live service games (the mobile version brought the developers $ 2 billion in revenue, making them one of the top three-earning productions on Google Play and App Store ). But that doesn’t mean there’s no shortage of controversy about how this game is being developed. Last year, fans were very resentful about how little effort the creators put on the first birthday of this title, and now the network has received information that the appearance of four characters has been censored on the Chinese server.
These are Jean, Amber, Rosaria, and Mona, which have permanently new models with the premiere of Update 2.4, characterized by the fact that they cover more skin than before. There was no official justification for this decision. Still, it is not difficult to guess that it was taken to comply with the requirements set by the Chinese government regarding how characters should look in computer games.
As compensation, Chinese players received some game currency, allowing them to draw bonus characters – while on the global servers, the models shown above will be available to these heroines in the form of alternative costumes.
As a reminder, in the west, the PC version of Genshin Impact is available both as a custom launcher and on the Epic Game Store.
