Despite the difficulties caused by the Shanghai lockdown, miHoYo managed to publish Genshin Impact update 2.7 without too many delays, available today, May 31, on PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile. The new update adds a new story mission, a mission dedicated to Yelan, a hangout event, several timed events, two playable characters, and many weapons. It will keep us company until July 10, when update 2.8 will be released.
We talked about most of the news of this update immediately after the Livestream event on May 20. We recommend you read to prepare yourself for this new update better, but more details have been shared on the banners and the event available at launch. Starting today, May 31, players can spend their Fairies on the banner of the character of Yelan, the new 5 Star Hydro fighter, available along with the 4 Stars Barbara, Noelle, and Yanfei. As usual, the chance to find the character is 0.6% for Fate and 50% once Pity is reached (from a minimum of 70 to a maximum of 90 Fate). If you fail 50/50, the character will appear at 100% once you reach Pity again.
In addition to the banner of Yelan, that of Xiao is also available; another legendary character returned and accompanied by the same 4-star characters as indicated above. Finally, the weapon banner is available, featuring Yelan’s legendary bow, the Aqua Simulacra, and Xiao’s legendary spear, the Jade Spear. Here the stats are a little more generous, with a 0.7% chance for Fate and a 75% chance once Pity is reached. These three banners will remain available until June 21, when they will be replaced by the banner of Arataki Itto, who will return accompanied by the new 4-star character Kuki Shinobu.
A new story mission is also available starting today, “The Unexpected Guest,” which will bring the traveler and Paimon back to The Chasm and join forces with Yelan and Xiao. As for the timed events instead, the “Perilous Trial” is now accessible, asking players to go to the depths of The Chasm to complete domains and unlock the second new weapon of the update, the 4-star free-to-play arc Fading Twilight.
New events and surprises will keep us company for the entire update duration, which will end on July 10 with the arrival of update 2.8. At the moment, miHoYo has not confirmed whether or not there will be a 2.9 update or if it will go directly to 3.0 with the introduction of the new Sumeru region.
