The Gears of War franchise has several projects in development, all of which are made using the Unreal Engine 5 game engine.
Through a publication, the Coalition studio announced that it has already started allocating resources for the development of Gears 6, making use of Unreal Engine 5, which will also be used to develop “other projects over the next few years.”
Still, fans will have to wait until some official announcement comes up, with the studio making it clear that moving to another game engine is a big challenge and, therefore, “will not announce any projects or games in the next times.”
Unreal Engine 5 was announced last year with a PS5 demo, which showed its impressive capabilities. Sony was convinced of the game engine’s capabilities, having invested $ 250 million in Epic Games, which owns the game engine.
Regarding current projects, The Coalition has made it clear that the Operation 7 and Operation 8 updates are still coming to Gears 5 this year, with new characters, maps, and special events.
