Forspoken is back at The Game Awards 2021 with a new gameplay video and finally has an official release date on PS5 and PC. However, with the opening of preorders, the first criticisms also came due to the launch price, which apparently will be identical on all platforms, without the classic price cut on Steam and Epic Games Store.
Although it seems like a small thing, the choice of Square Enix sets a very important precedent, as Godfall a year ago with the launch price of € 79.99, now standard for all PS5 games, and Take- NBA 2K21. Two Interactive with the paid upgrade, another practice adopted by all development houses. The cost of PC video games has always been 10/20% lower than that of consoles, but Forspoken will be the first video game offered at a next-gen price on Steam and Epic Games Store, which have to adapt the publisher’s requests.
Forspoken is available for preorder on PC and PS5, in two versions, Standard from € 79.99 and Deluxe Edition from € 104.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes:
- Forspoken mini-artbook (digital download)
- Forspoken Mini Soundtrack (digital download)
- ” Forspoken: In Tanta We Trust ” prequel DLC (coming winter 2022)
- Early access to the prequel DLC
And what do you think of this decision? Is it right that everyone pays the same amount? Or is it too high a price? Tell us in the comments!
