A new gameplay trailer for FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch was shown during the State of Play. The 2D platformer starring a rabbit with a large metal fist also has a release date: September 7, 2021. The game will be released on both PS4 and PS5.
FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch, an elegant side-scrolling platformer starring a grumpy rabbit with a big metal fist, officially has a release date: September 7, 2021.
The game, described as a “dieselpunk” Metroidvania by developer TiGames, is set in a world full of anthropomorphic animals and released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC for € 29.99. PlayStation Plus members will enjoy a 10% discount if they pre-order the game through the PlayStation Store.
Players will take on the role of Rayton, a former resistance fighter who is brought back into action after his friend is forcibly arrested. From there, players will be able to explore Torch City’s various interconnected regions, solving puzzles, overcoming platforming challenges, and punching enemies in combat.
A new PlayStation blog post explains Rayton’s design, with TiGames stating that an animal was chosen as the main character due to its universal appeal. As for why Rayton is a bunny, it’s not just because of his iconic bunny ears but also because rabbits are generally seen as weak, which is a nice surprise when players find that Rayton is a veteran of grizzled war.
Players will master three different weapons, the fist, the drill, and the whip, with each weapon having its strengths and weaknesses. The new trailer for the game shows some fights and a preview of some boss battles. Running on Unreal Engine 4, FIST looks impressive, with detailed textures and overall visual fidelity not commonly seen in 2D side-scrolling.
The game was first announced last July and was originally slated to launch a few months later. That obviously didn’t happen and will now be released this fall on an additional platform that comes in the form of the PS5.
