Final Fantasy XVI will be exclusive on the PS5 console, but only for a limited time. The game, presented during the PlayStation Showcase in September 2020 as a “PlayStation 5 exclusive,” will also be available on Xbox Series X / S later. However, it is not yet clear how long we will have to wait. Sony and Square Enix, therefore, seem to have reached a temporal exclusivity agreement similar to that seen with Final Fantasy VII Remake, only in this case the title will be available on day one also on PC.
The information comes directly from the official PlayStation site, which among the video games coming out on next-gen consoles also shows Final Fantasy XVI. A footnote states that “the title will not be available on other consoles for a limited time,” so the arrival on Xbox is practically certain. Below the image.
Final Fantasy XVI is currently in the middle of production, and according to the first rumors, it could debut as early as the second half of 2022. New information on the game is expected to be shared during the Tokyo Game Show 2021 scheduled for this fall.
