Electronic Arts have published a press release following the launch of FIFA 22 and has also given some information about the franchise’s future.
The highlight is that EA is considering making changes to both the EA Sports brand and FIFA. The change, they point out, does not come from bad sales figures: as they explain, the launch of FIFA 22 has been a record, and the game already has 9.1 million players. Since its publication on September 26, 460 million games have been played, and 7.6 million Ultimate Team teams have been created.
EA insists that the FIFA saga still has a long way to go, but it opens the door to a brand change and approaches the next installment.
“As we look forward, we are also exploring the idea of renaming our global games from EA Sports. This means that we are reviewing our naming rights agreement with FIFA, which is a separate entity from our other partnerships and licenses in the world of soccer. “
