Elden Ring will feature multiple systems that players will first need to familiarize themselves with to hone their stealth skills.
According to the official website, Elden Ring will give players the ability to ” practice stealth to avoid danger or catch enemies off guard ” using ” the environment, weather and time of day to gain an advantage. ” Meanwhile, developer FromSoftware has already confirmed a dynamic weather system and the day-night cycle.
FromSoftware has also previously noted how Elden Ring would feature a large open world and be interconnected to place a great emphasis on exploration. This design is likely where environments come into play, and as such, stealth-loving gamers will be able to use their surroundings to escape or ambush enemies.
We haven’t seen the stealth component of the game yet. Still, it’s not hard to imagine players sneaking into foliage or climbing an elevated vantage point at night, spotting new routes or hidden tracks during the day, or using rain to outflank enemies as they seek to cover.
The website confirms that Elden Ring will have dodge and parry mechanics, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. FromSoftware has relied on dodge/parry systems since the first Demon’s Souls was launched ten years ago. Therefore, learning the enemy’s intentions will be important because ” a dodge or parry at the right moment could mean the difference between life and death. “
Elden Ring will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC on January 28, 2022.
