Edge of Eternity is finally ready to come out of Early Access and arrive on PC (via Steam) on June 8, 2021. Over 4,000 users on Kickstarter funded the game, and after four years of development, the guys from Midgar Studio managed to bring their promising JRPG to life. The project has also been approved by Sony and Microsoft, who will release the game on old and new generation consoles in the fall of 2021.
We remind you that Edge of Eternity was born as a video game inspired by the famous Final Fantasy saga for those not familiar with the title. Midgar Studio began work on the project with just seven employees and then expanded upon receiving support from over 4,000 donors on Kickstarter.
The campaign, in fact, allowed the studio to raise over $ 160,000 and start realizing its vision by collaborating with well-known faces in the gaming industry. Kickstarter has already given us pearls like Hollow Knight, so the hope is to see another indie of this caliber.
Edge of Eternity is a fantasy video game with a turn-based combat system, with a soundtrack composed by the legendary Yasunori Mitsuda ( Final Fantasy V, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Xenoblade Chronicles ), Concept Art by Chinese artist Yan Shu ( League of Legends ) and animations curated by Dwarf Animation Studio ( Shrek 3, Madagascar 2 ).
The Kickstarter campaign’s stretch goals allowed the team to add many mechanics, including invocations, multiple choices, mounts, and so on. The game will consist of eight chapters, for a total duration of approximately 50 hours.
Edge of Eternity will debut on June 8 on PC, where it can be purchased for € 24.99 (discounted at € 16.74 until April 13) and will arrive on consoles this fall. For more details, you can take a look at the game’s Steam page.
