EA is quietly terminating the Dirt cycle – at least on social media, where the company changes the name of the accounts devoted to the brand that the company took over after buying Codemasters.
The PushSquare service writes about the case. Internet users have noticed that the Twitter profile dedicated to the recognized rally series has disappeared, and EA Sports Rally has appeared in its place.
However, this is the current account, but with a changed name. This is evidenced by the registration date (July 2010), a description referring to the Dirt series and published entries. A similar modification was made on Facebook.

Interestingly, a separate profile dedicated to the Dirt brand has been set up on Twitter, informing visitors to head to the EA Sports Rally. The changes made may mean that Electronic Arts is terminating the series.
The company’s activities are accompanied by unofficial reports from Tom Henderson that the next Codemasters project would be produced under the WRC license. Initially, the studio planned to prepare Dirt Rally 3, but the game was reportedly abandoned at the end of 2021 in favor of the World Rally Championship title.
The news from a reputable insider is anecdotal, but the steps EA is taking on social media may indicate that there is something wrong.
