Electronic Arts confirmed the information we wrote about last week. The company admits that leading traders from the FIFA Ultimate Team mode lost their accounts due to mistakes made by the corporation’s technical support.
In short: after gaining basic information, hackers reported to support, asking for the email address associated with the account, and resetting this data. This allowed you to log in and clear the virtual currency on your account.
EA confirms that “less than 50” accounts were thus targeted following an investigation.
“The issue of account security is always related to the human factor, and we must do better in this area in the future,” he added.
“We would like to apologize for any inconvenience and frustration caused. We couldn’t share any details last week as we conducted an in-depth internal investigation. Thank you to the entire community for your patience,” explains Electronic Arts.
