The Techland ensures that the development of Dying Light 2 is not in hell; the game was just announced very early and now has to deal with this reality.
After announcing the news on March 18, 2021, Techland received several messages from fans on social media, which show enthusiasm mixed with some fear, especially after what happened with Cyberpunk 2077.
One fan, in particular, referred to Dying Light 2 as a game whose development is going to be hellish, something that deserved a response from Techland. He clarifies that the development is not being troubled but admits that it was announced very early.
Afaik the definition of a dev hell, requires the game not to make any development progress. While DL2 keeps moving forward, we announced the game too early, but it’s far from being in a dev hell.
Dying Light 2 was announced at E3 2018 and remained without a release date after being postponed from the initial forecast for the first half of 2020.
