Tymon Smektala, lead game designer at Techland and author of Dying Light 2: Stay Human, spoke about the game’s future in an interview for Wccftech, revealing some details about the first expansion of the story coming out in June. The Director also celebrated the great success of the title, capable of selling over 5 million copies in a month, saying he was extremely happy with the welcome received from the community.
When asked for details on the first expansion, Smektala stated the following: “What I can say is that the events of the DLC go hand in hand with those of the main story, so the new adventure can be started the time Aiden arrives in the city. We didn’t want to force new players to complete the story before diving into the DLC, so we decided to make the content immediately available to everyone […] The storyline will take players to a new area just outside Villedor, and there will be so many choices to make! “.
The Director went on to talk about future support for the experience, stating that in the next five years, the team intends to expand the game universe as much as possible. In the first two years, Techland will “experiment with various ideas to see what works and what doesn’t,” both on the single-player and cooperative multiplayer front, and add more content based on fan feedback. Smektala hasn’t even ruled out the possibility of reintroducing vehicles, already popular in The Following expansion of the first Dying Light.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and PC. The Nintendo Switch version is in production and will arrive later this summer.
