Funcom and Shiro Games today announce the release date of Dune: Spice Wars, the real-time strategy game based on Frank Herbert’s novel series. The video game will be released in early access only on PC (Steam) starting April 26. For the first time in twenty years, it will allow all saga fans to experience an adventure set in this incredible sci-fi universe.
Dune: Spice Wars is described as a real-time strategy game with 4X elements, developed by the authors of the excellent Northgard. The adventure will be set in Frank Herbert’s pioneering Dune universe, where players will be called upon to lead their chosen faction to victory by exercising their control over the hostile desert planet of Arrakis. Speaking of factions, Funcom also introduced the Fremen, native inhabitants of Arrakis who players can control. The total factions are four with special units, strengths and weaknesses, and unique advisors.
Dune: Spice Wars is currently only out on PC, and there are no plans to bring it to PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch.
