The next Dragon Age will take place in Tevinter, according to an official game development book from BioWare. For fans of the series, the new scenario suggests a lot about the history and conflicts ahead and center in the anticipated sequence.
The scenario was confirmed in the book BioWare: Stories and Secrets from 24 Years of Game Development. This follows a tip that came at the end of the Dragon Age: Inquisition Trespasser expansion and will finally fit into an environment that we’ve only heard about before.
The Tevinter Imperium is a human nation governed by a council of magicians. Archon Imperial leads the magisterial council. Tevinter was also described as a wealthy and decadent nation that maintained a strict rule about its people, including blood magic. Given that many Dragon Age stories revolve around tensions between users of magic and non-magical people, it is certainly a rich vein for intrigue.
The book also notes that while Tevinter appears to be the main setting, conceptual art implies that you will also travel to the surrounding areas. Some of them include Antiva City, Mourn Watch in a necropolis that is likely to be in Nevarra, and the Rivain-based treasure hunter guild.
The next Dragon Age, which has no official title yet and may not be called “Dragon Age 4“, still seems far from being released.
