Colin Moriarty, a well-known journalist, and video game developer, said he had received new information on Dead Island 2, currently developing at Deep Silver’s studios. A few months ago, the well-known insider Tom Henderson had stated that the game would be “resurrected” this year and that it would hit the market by the first quarter of 2023. According to his source, Moriarty has added that the presentation would be scheduled for this summer, launching between September and October 2022.
“I talked about it a few weeks ago, and now I repeat, Dead Island 2 is about to be re-announced,” Moriarty said during his Sacred Symbols podcast. “A reliable source of mine told me that the presentation is scheduled for this summer, with an expected launch a few months after the announcement, probably between September and October 2022.” You can listen to the complete conversation from 36:11.
Embracer Group has practically confirmed the existence of Dead Island 2, and a launch between summer and autumn 2022 is in line with the plans of the Swedish holding, which in the latest financial statement suggested a publication by March 1, 2023. The game’s first announcement dates back to Gamescom 2014. Since then, the project has entered development hell, with Deep Silver eventually entrusting the production to its subsidiary, Dambuster Studios. According to the latest rumors, the game should return to showing itself within a few months, perhaps during the Summer Game Fest in June or during the Gamescom 2022 in August. In all cases, the presentation should be upon us.
