The Focus Home Interactive and Passtech announced a partnership between studios Evil Empire and Motion Twin, resulting in a crossover between roguelikes Curse of the Dead Gods and Dead Cells. Titled “Curse of the Dead Cells,” the update will bring a new curse, three new weapons, and a new type of challenge room, all inspired by the indie Dead Cells.
Players will have three new Dead Cells-inspired weapons, as well as a curse and a new challenge room. The weapons Sword of the Knight, the Sword of Conjuctivius, and the Beast of the Damned were chosen to integrate this crossover. All will have the same effect seen in the original game.
The new Curse of the Headless curse or the “Curse of the headless” curse will make the player move faster, however, with the consequence of taking more damage. Also, the appearance is changed to one very similar to that of Dead Cells’ main character.
Finally, a new challenge room will be added, containing Dead Cells’ cursed chest. Upon winning the proposed challenge, the player will earn rare weapons, including a “cursed” weapon.
All features have been carefully thought out to fit the style and gameplay of Curse of the Dead Gods and, at the same time, be inspired by Dead Cells. Other new features are also planned with this update for Curse of The Dead Gods, such as a new curse and a two-handed weapon.
It is worth remembering that the crossover update between the two games will be available on April 14 for all platforms. The Curse of The Dead Gods is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
