Control Ultimate Edition takes up less space on PS5 due to Kraken Compression

The PS5 version of Control Ultimate Edition ( available for free to PS Plus subscribers in February 2021 ) features a significantly smaller file size than the Xbox Series X, largely thanks to the console’s enhanced Kraken Compression technique.

Control Ultimate Edition has 25.79 GB on Sony’s new console, while on Xbox Series X, the game weighs 42.4 GB and 42.1 GB on Xbox One. On PS4, its size is 38.53 GB. Again, this is due to the better compression technique employed by the PS5 hardware.

Kraken Compression was mentioned in Mark Cerny’s presentation on the PS5.
