Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games have officially announced Control 2, a sequel to the 2019 action video game Control. The new series chapter has been in development for more than a year under the code name Project Heron, and today the game title and release platforms have been revealed, namely PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC, plus some details on the production. The Italian publisher 505 Games also stated that the first chapter has sold over 3 million copies and that it has exceeded 10 million total players thanks to the subscription services.
Control 2 will be co-produced and co-published by Remedy and 505 Games, with the Finnish studio retaining the IP rights. The initial budget is equal to 50 million euros, a nice increase compared to the 30 million allocated for the first chapter, and all the realization and marketing costs will be divided 50/50 between the two companies and the earnings. The official press release also revealed that Remedy would publish the game on PC, while 505 Games will take care of the distribution on consoles.
“We are very happy to expand our collaboration with Remedy and to continue to deal with a very successful series such as Control,” said Abramo and Raffaele Galante, the two CEOs of Digital Bros / 505 Games. “Since launching in 2019, the first chapter has sold over 3 million copies and has been our biggest gaming investment. It is a video game that holds a special place in our hearts, and we want to thank all the fans for making it a great success. We can’t wait to show you Control 2 “. Mikael Kasurinen, Game Director of Control, returns to the control room for the sequel and has intervened on social networks to declare that ” Control 2 will be monumental”.
