In a new article made for Bloomberg, journalist Jason Schreier spoke for the first time about Call of Duty: Warzone 2, the sequel to the video game of the same name, currently in development and with a release date set for the generic 2023. Instead of making a next-gen patch, therefore, it seems that Activision has directly given the green light for the realization of a sequel to the popular free-to-play shooter and that it aims at a launch scheduled for next year on PS5, Xbox Series X / S and PC.
Tom Henderson, an insider and journalist, is known for the leaks on Call of Duty and Battlefield, confirmed the project’s existence with a tweet, also declaring that it is a video game coming out on PC and next-generation consoles. Both sources have specified that the game in question is completely new. Given the rumors about the possible exclusivity of the series, it is also possible that it is the last Call of Duty coming to PlayStation.
Unfortunately, at the moment, there are no confirmations, so we advise you to take everything with a grain of salt, even if considering the spotless track records of Jason Schreier and Tom Henderson, it cannot be excluded that the rumors are well-founded. However, it seems strange that Activision decided to divide its playerbase according to the console, especially when it would be enough to renew Call of Duty: Warzone with a next-gen upgrade.
What do you think of it? Would you like a Call of Duty: Warzone 2 ? Tell us in the comments!
