Dark fantasy action platformer Blasphemous will receive an update later this year to wrap up the game’s story, with a sequel for release in 2023.
The Game Kitchen announced to Gamescom that they would be releasing Wounds of Eventide in December. This free DLC will unlock the true ending of Blasphemous, released in 2019.
But with the first game ready to bow, the developers have started working on their next title. This direct sequel to Blasphemous will be another step forward for the franchise when it releases in 2023. You can see the trailer for this DLC and the sequel below.
“We are so happy to announce that we have started work on a sequel to Blasphemous, the community has shown so much love and affection for the first game and we are looking forward to sharing more information about Blasphemous 2 when we can!” Game Kitchen said in a statement.
But if the wait is still long, fans will at least be able to enjoy the upcoming “Wounds of Eventide” DLC, which is described as the definitive end of the first Blasphemous.
Blasphemous is a side-view 2D scroller that mixes intense action with light Metroidvania elements.
