The Portal mode of Battlefield 2042 has already been used to create a Battle Royale mode in the style of Call of Duty: Warzone within the new shooter. Although it does present some interesting solutions, the so-called Warfield 100 has its lobby, random loot, a closing circle, and much more.
As reported by MP1ST, a Reddit user known as u / chbmg recently revealed that he has created his own Battle Royale with the new Battlefield 2042 Portal creation tools. ” After spending more hours in the rules editor than I would like to admit, I am pleased to announce the creation of a full battle royale experience for the Battlefield Portal, ” the user revealed on Reddit.
In the post, chbmg explains many features found in the mode, which are similar to other modern battle royales like Call of Duty Warzone. Although the user notes that the features of Warfield 100 could change over time after adjustments and bug fixes, there is still a lot to do with the current format of the mode.
Upon entering a Warfield 100 game, players appear in a pre-lobby area. Equipped with a random team, players can use this time for target practice while waiting for the room to fill up. They are then dropped directly onto the battlefield.
Although the game mode has failed to implement a battle bus or drop ship to get into the action, players who enter the game properly do so through a parachute and are equipped with a pistol at the start as well as with some grenades.
It is at this point that things start to get interesting. As chbmg explains in his post, the Portal editor does not allow placing items such as loot on the ground for players to collect and replace their pistols. In an ingenious solution, the Reddit user game mode signals players when they are near a weapon via an on-screen message displaying the words “on-loot.” From here, players must repeatedly crouch three times, at which point the gods on the battlefield will substitute their current weapon for nearby objects.
Other makeshift solutions include the game’s zone circle. Instead of featuring deadly gases or other substances, it comprises “a group of” pirate “AI players” forming an outer circle and approaching a smaller circle every two minutes. Venturing outside the limits set by the AI player circle, visibly highlighted in red during mode to avoid confusion, causes players to take damage and lead to death.
Like in Warzone, dying in Warfield 100 sends you to a prison where you can fight for a second chance. While Warzone (usually) only allows you one shot at the gulag, Warfield 100 is slightly more forgiving. According to the Reddit post, each time a player dies in-game, they must perform an additional kill in the prison area to re-enter Warfield. However, that kill limit is reached if a player needs more than four kills to get out of prison, at which point they are out of the game.
After the good reception of the users of the Battlefield subreddit, chbmg thanked the fans for their kind words. ” Wow, I wasn’t expecting a great reception as I’m a Reddit newbie. Thank you so much for the awards and kind words, ” he said before, noting that the mode still needs a fair amount of work.
Battlefield 2042, despite the commendable work of its players, has not had the best possible launch. New updates are on the way, and you can see all the changes and bugs that will be fixed.
