Despite the excellent launch recorded in November, with promising sales on all platforms and 4.23 million copies shipped in the first weekend, Battlefield 2042 does not seem to have what it takes to guarantee satisfactory long-term performance, or at least this suggests criticism from fans and the low number of active players. Fortunately, Electronic Arts and DICE are working to solve all the main problems quickly, and only a few moments ago, they revealed the news coming with the new updates.
Battlefield 2042 will update to version 3.2 tomorrow, January 20, 2022, with a minor patch that will improve server stability and fix bugs most reported by users. In February, however, update 3.3 will arrive, much more substantial, with general improvements to the experience and a revised scoreboard, which will finally show more details on the performance of the various players during the matches.
The new points table will allow you to see the number of kills, assists, goal defenses, revives, and other statistics of all players on your team, as well as the total score of each team member. Unfortunately, the new scoreboard will not include the number of deaths, nor will it allow to see the opposing team’s score, but DICE confirms that other changes could be made in the future. After all, the software house has never hidden that it wants to avoid showing the points table to reduce toxic comments and quarrels between players. Still, fans continue to clamor for the introduction of the classic system.
Battlefield 2042 is designed to have a very long life cycle, and between March and April, Season 1 should begin, with Battle Pass, daily and weekly challenges, and lots of unlockable content. We’ll see if EA and DICE manage to repopulate the servers before starting the new season.
