Baldur’s Gate 3, the ambitious fantasy RPG from the writers of Divinity: Original Sin, launched in October 2020 in Early Access; Over the past year and a half, it has continued to evolve with some exciting patches. Today, on the occasion of the release of Patch 7, the CEO of Larian Studios discussed the exit from Early Access and the official launch of the game, saying that the team is aiming for a release in 2023.
“We should be in the last year of development,” studio CEO Swen Vincke told Eurogamer, “we have at least one more year of production ahead of us, so we are unlikely to get out of Early Access in 2022. In all cases, now we begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we are moving with a plan in mind. […] We will release the game when we have reached a sufficient quality standard, and even if we know we have done a good job in the last year, we still need some time. We know that players want to know a date, but for now, I can only say that we expect to exit Early Access in 2023 “.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available in early access on PC (Steam), the only release platform where you can play early by purchasing the full game. Larian Studios released Patch 7 today, introducing a new class, two subclasses, new weapons, and several UI improvements. The game will continue to be supported with numerous updates until the official launch, scheduled for generic 2023.
