Before this update, the only option available for solo play was training mode, which unlocked all cards for players to try out. However, this mode does not include any progression. For example, players cannot earn points or make any progress towards the goals.
The latest update provides players with the long-awaited solo campaign (via VGC), completely offline, with progression, meaning players will enjoy the story with the same benefits and improvements they would receive if they were playing online.
This update is something bigger than what the studio is preparing for 2022. A new difficulty level, a new co-op mode, updates to melee, additional quality of life improvements, new player cards, and corruption will be released.
In 2022, the first expansion of Back 4 Blood will also arrive, titled Tunnels of Terror. This is part of the Annual Pass and introduces new playable characters and new Ridden types. The Pass also promises to introduce new weapons, cards, skins, and a new type of activity. Expansions 2 and 3 are also scheduled for release in 2022.
