More than a year has passed since Studio Obsidian Entertainment (known from such titles as Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds ) announced Avowed, a new RPG game set in the fantasy world known from the Pillars of Eternity series, heading to the Xbox Series X and PC.
Very little information has been disclosed about the project since then, but that has changed this week – Jez Corden of WindowsCentral had the opportunity to see Obsidian’s plans for what Avowed will be called.
As said before, we will receive a production with a first-person view, inspired by the gameplay style primarily by The Elder Scrolls series, primarily when it comes to the emphasis on exploration. The game will be developed on an engine similar to The Outer Worlds but improved compared to their previous RPG.
The characters we create will have the abilities already known from Pillars of Eternity (mainly spells). It will be possible to fight with two weapons at once, for example, to wield a sword in one hand while the other throws a fireball.
For now, however, it is not certain that Avowed will have a fully open-world – instead, we can get a HUB system, similar to the Outer Worlds. This title is currently in pre-production, and so far, it has not even been given an approximate release date – however, the creators hope that the first materials from the game will be able to be shown by E3 2022 at the latest.
