Eric Baptizat directs dead Space Remake. The director was previously responsible for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, among others. Baptizat worked for Ubisoft for 16 years and recently made a move to EA Motive.
Baptizat shared the news on LinkedIn, confirming a June 2021 report stating that he left Ubisoft to join EA Motive as an as-yet-unannounced project leader.
According to his LinkedIn, Baptizat joined EA Motive in April 2021, which may explain how long this project is still in the pipeline.
Baptizat was only named game director for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but he was also the lead game designer for Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Unity, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Shaun White Skateboarding, James Cameron’s AVATAR, and Surf’s Up.
EA Motive was founded in 2015 by Jade Raymond, of Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs fame, and the studio helped with Star Wars Battlefront 2 and most recently worked on Star Wars: Squadrons.
The Dead Space Remake was announced at EA Play Live 2021 and released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. We didn’t get a release date yet, but we first looked at the survival horror game from 2008.
