Embark Studios has officially announced ARC Raiders, a new sci-fi video game that we will learn more about during The Game Awards 2021. The indie studio, founded in 2018 by former EA Games boss Patrick Söderlund and former DICE Johan Andersson, has been working on the project for more than three years. In a few days, we will find out what it is, what platforms it will be released, and the state of development.
Embark Studios started as a small business with only fifty employees. Still, shortly after, the Söderlund foundation stated that the long-term plan included a major expansion to reach a base of two hundred employees. Over the past three years, the studio has worked tirelessly on ARC Raiders. A project billed as “a free-to-play co-op action game,” which we now know is a sci-fi title with co-op and PvP components, all details revealed by the vacancies visible on the official website. It’s unclear whether or not the free-to-play structure remained, but we’ll likely get a response during the TGAs.
Pending the event’s start, however, the studio has shared a first, cryptic teaser trailer for the game. Information is scarce, but the video seems to confirm at least the action sci-fi nature of the project.
