Giant Trevally is one of the rare fish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
You can catch Giant Trevally for six months, and, like Golden Trouts, they can only be found at a specific location – the dock.
This guide contains everything you need to know about catching Giant Trevally in New Horizons, including which month the fish decided to visit your island.
Where and when can I catch Giant Trevally?
Here is all you need to know about Giant Trevally at New Horizons, including the best time – Month and Day:
- Giant Trevally from May to October
- Giant Trevally Time – All-day
- Giant Trevally Location – Pier
- Giant Trevally selling price – 4,500 Bells
Where is the dock, and how do you catch Giant Trevally there?
Like Tuna and Blue Marlin before, Giant Trevally can only be caught from the dock. This is not the pier where the airport is located on your island, but rather the small pier located on one of the beaches.
To make it easier to catch Giant Trevally, make sure you only catch fish at the end of the dock. This will ensure that you don’t only catch fish that can be found along the coastline.

Before you start hunting Giant Trevally, you must make a lot of fish bait. Lots of fish bait.
To make fish bait, you need one manila clam, which can be found by digging a stretch of sand that spits water on the beach. When you have to catch Giant Trevally, you will need at least 50 bags of fish bait, and you may have to make them again after using them too.
We recommend that you make a fish bait and try to catch Giant Trevally in a short session, rather than spend the whole day trying to find it. This way will prevent fishing from becoming boring and, if you keep going, you will finally have Giant Trevally for your museum.
Giant Trevally can only be found in the waters around your island between May and October and can be caught anytime during the day.
