Age of Empire IV will be released this fall 2021: we learned from the Fan Preview released yesterday. This Fan Preview event was very generous and gave us a long streak of Age of Empires IV gameplay.
As you can see in the trailer above, Relic Entertainment (the developers) have decided to go back to medieval times. We do not yet know why this choice, but surely, Age of Empires IV will be, like its predecessors, generous in content and game time since it will offer 4 campaigns to bring you to life.
The first campaign that we know takes place during England’s conquest, where you will be alongside Harold the Conqueror to help him in his quest. Unfortunately, this is the only campaign where we know the overall scenario since the other three have not yet been revealed. You will also lead other civilizations such as the Mongols, the Sultanate of Delhi, the Chinese, and the English.
On the visual side, do not expect a revolution even if some details are more noticeable and the general rendering is more shimmering to the eye. It’s definitely on the gameplay side that Age of Empires IV seems to be innovating (although you won’t be lost if you’ve played the previous games). Relic Entertainment has, for example, decided to adopt different gameplay with the Mongolian people, the latter not building fortifications like other peoples.
Naval battles will also be part of the game, but the teaser is way too short to get anything out of it.
To see if the game will appeal to fans. For that, you will not have to wait very long since the Age of Empires IV is expected for the fall of 2021. The game will be available on Steam but also, of course, on the PC Game Pass.
