Activision plans to make Call of Duty: Warzone an eSports by adding Battle Royale to the Call of Duty League. The head of the league announced this at Activision Blizzard, Joanna Feris.
In November 2020, Call of Duty: Warzone launched a private match beta, allowing more than four players to gather in a single lobby. Previously, Battle Royale tournaments were held in regular matchmaking, and the winner was determined by the number of points scored.
In January 2021, the European Twitch Rivals Call of Duty: Warzone Season 7 Showdown was held in closed lobbies. Dmitry Recrent Osintsev and Alexander Ubica Ivanov became the champions of the tournament.
