Last December, on Christmas Eve, Dutch studio Blue Box published a Roadmap of Abandoned, their new horror project in development. After months of waiting, many references to Hideo Kojima, and a very short teaser published on the PS5 Realtime Experience app, the studio had announced great news for the first quarter of 2022, namely the release of a tech demo and the official prologue, but to no updates of any kind have been published today.
For those who have not followed the story, the indie studio Blue Box presented the game about a year ago, and in 2021 it published multiple references to Hideo Kojima and Silent Hills, suggesting that the projects could be connected. The founder of the studio, Hasan Kahraman, apologized several times for how his game’s promotional campaign was handled. In December, he promised that the Realtime Experience app, published specifically by Sony for the presentation of Abandoned, would be updated in early 2022 with new content.
With the first quarter of 2022 behind us, Blue Box hasn’t released any trailers, the long-awaited tech demo, or the full video game Abandoned: Prologue, which was supposed to serve as a prequel for the main game. This content was supposed to be out by the end of March. The Dutch studio also hasn’t posted any update or explanation for the delay and has deleted several tweets posted in the past year.
It is currently unclear how development progresses, but plans may have changed, or the studio is lagging in production. Pending further updates, we remind you that the release of Abandoned is scheduled for the generic 2022 exclusively on PS5.
