Last Stand Media published a few moments ago a new interview with Hasan Kahraman, founder of Blue Box Studio and Game Director of Abandoned, conducted by a journalist with experience in video game development Colin Moriarty. During the interview, made for the Sacred Symbols podcast, the author of the game stunned the host and the community with some rather unique statements, including one concerning the budget of the video game.
During the chat, Kharaman declined to share details about the Abandoned publisher and declined to reveal who was funding the project. Also, the Game Director avoided some development questions, limiting himself to sharing some confusing details about the game’s plot, which you can hear from 39:50.
As for the budget, Colin Moriarty has assumed a cost close to “seven figures,” presumably between five and six million dollars, more or less the standard for video games with 4K resolution, support for DualSense, motion capture, and so on. Hasan Kharaman stated that “so far Abandoned has cost $ 30,000”, a response that has left the conductor and community stunned, given that only the official partnership with NUARE, an art studio that has worked on Halo Infinite, Death Stranding, and The Last of Us: Part 2, should cost several hundred thousand dollars. Furthermore, the cost of an indie game without a publisher often fluctuates between $ 50,000 and $ 500,000. You can listen to the curious exchange between the two sides from minute 32:20.
We remind you that the latter will be released in 2022 and that it will be a prequel to the main adventure still in development.
